Pop-Up Performances

Pop-Up performances give choruses and quartets the opportunity to perform indoors at many leading hotels, MONA, Hobart International Airport, the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), and shopping centres. Outdoor venues include Salamanca Market, Salamanca Square, Elizabeth Street Mall, Farm Gate Market and the Red Decker Bus.
 
Pop-Up performances will be from 15-20 minutes in any location.
 
Most locations are within walking distance of the Hobart GPO.


We will allocate venues that are considered suitable as far as possible to the times you choose. You may choose to nominate a number of different performance slots. 
 
We are providing Pop-Up performance opportunities in eight time slots over four days.

Cascade Brewery Function

Tuesday Afternoon - expression of interest

Cascade Brewery – Beer School and barbershop singing opportunity.

Buses will depart/return Wrest Point Reception and Guest Services.

Community Pub Choir

Tuesday 17 September - 7:00pm

You will join with lots of locals and other barbershoppers, and in 90 minutes you will learn a song in 4 part harmony, and perform it twice.

It’s rowdy, wholesome and so much damn fun.

The Pub Choir is lead by Alex Morris and the Electric Barbercats. All delegates welcome to join locals for an enthusiastic barbershop sing along.

Workshop - Everyone Singing in Harmony Chorus

As part of the Festival activities, Barbershop Harmony Australia is offering a two-and-a-half hour harmony singing workshop free to the people of Hobart. Festival delegates are also encouraged to attend.

Date:        18 September 2019
Time:       2pm to 4:30pm
Venue:    Derwent Room, Wrest Point Hotel, Sandy Bay

As a Workshop participant you will experience the joy of harmony singing led by a qualified team of educators from across Australia. You will learn a song in four-part harmony and be ready to perform it and the official Civic Welcome and Massed Sing to be held at 12.00pm on Friday 20th September in the Tasman Room, Wrest Point Hotel. 

Several weeks prior to the workshop, you will receive a copy of the music and learning tracks to help you prepare. For locals, there will also be an earlier workshop in the weeks preceding the Festival.

Town Hall Concert

Here's an opportunity for your group to perform at the Hobart Town Hall between 5pm and 6pm on Wednesday 18 September.

John Little Show

Quartets competing in Hobart are invited to indicate their intention to appear on the traditional John Little Show from 7:00pm on Wednesday 18 September 2019 at the Wrest Point Showroom. This is a chance for around 20 competing quartets to hit out before the big contest in a friendly, informal atmosphere. Competing quartets who would like to sing one or two songs as a warm-up to their contest appearance on Thursday should register
here to reserve their singing spot.


Chorus Corral

Choruses attending the Hobart Festival are invited to indicate their intention to appear in the traditional Chorus Corral from 2.00pm on Friday 20 September 2019 in the Tasman Room, Wrest Point Hotel. This is a chance for around 16 Choruses to perform in a friendly, informal atmosphere whether or not they are registered to compete in the National Contest on Saturday. It also gives the Youth and Schools Chorus the opportunity to perform following their Workshop earlier in the day. Choruses who would like to sing one or two non-competition songs at this event should register here to reserve their spot on stage.


Church Service

Here's an opportunity for your chorus to perform at the Church Service from 10am on Sunday 22 September.
